THE DRIVER

Ken Carlson is the driver for Team Santucci. Ken lives with his wife and two children in Vernon, CT.
Ken and his partner Tim Peckham own Custom Design Performance. They met in the mid 80's when Ken needed an
engine rebuilt for his 1972 Olds Cutlass. Tim, at the time, owned a machine shop called Automotive Specialties Unlimited.
Through a friend of Tim's, Ken purchased a Speed Shop called Custom Design in Columbia. After a few years of working together,
from the 2 different locations, they decided to move both businesses to a new location in Columbia, CT. Hence, the
beginning of Custom Design Performance,llc.
Ken began racing in the mid 80's, and gradually progressed from street racing, to street/strip, to bracket, to full race with
his Chevy powered 1972 Olds Cutlass. Power came by way of Tim's engine building skills and a big block Chevy.
Ken was consistently running in the mid 10's with this combination.
Ken always had a knack for cutting a great light, and other racers eagerly sought him out to drive their cars at premier events.
His driving abilities made Ken a logical choice to be the driver for Team Santucci.
Ken, who was already doing our cylinder head work, volunteered to take over the driving duties. This has proven
to be a match made in heaven.
